Happy New Year

Well it's been a few weeks since I last posted anything. Christmas for us was very quiet, a few days in the caravan, on a site near Chesterfield. Lots of walking and relaxing.

New Year however was an altogether different experience. We went to the New Year rally organised by the Midland Centre of the Caravan Club and had a brilliant time. We are members of this centre, and although we were not stewarding the rally, because I am on the committee we helped out a lot. Food was provided every day, including roast dinners and continental breakfasts.

We had evening entertainment including 2xtreme and a Rod Stewart tribute act, who was in my option exceptionally good. We also partied the night away for Hogmanay.

In fact on New Year's day evening we went to a get together with the rally stewards, and ended up volunteering to help run the 2009/2010 New Year Rally.

Looks like we will be even busier next New Year.

Happy New Year to all who read this.

Youtube Videos

Over the weekend I managed to get split a 15minute video I took at the Family Christmas Party into smaller sections so that it could be uploaded onto youtube. Being a fan of Ubuntu, I had track down an application that could split the mp4 file from my fujifilm S2000HD camera. I found MP4Box, a fairly easy to use command line application.

You can view the videos, The Farmers Pt1 and Pt2. My skills at video capture leave a bit to be desired, but I was sat on a hard concrete floor that was very uncomfortable, so it is a bit shaky.

Work

nd Well I am at work and its 20:50. I am upgrading a couple of our customers servers. Hopefully it won't be a late night. While the upgrade is working away, I have been surfing ebay to see if there are any bargains to be had. Not found any yet, but there are some monsoon dresses that my wife would look absolutely stunning in.

Well its nearing Midnight and I have just about finished. I have just discovered that one of my favourite bands Runrig from my days at Paisley College are on last.fm. Yeahaa. One of my all time favourite Runrig tracks is Skye.

Beer and Curry

Went out for a Beer and a Curry at one of the local pubs last night with some mates. We usually try and meet up every 4 to 6 weeks, but lately this has stretched to 6 months. It was good to catch up on what's been happening, however one of the group may be of to Switzerland for 6 months work. Ideal time of year just after Christmas. Next meeting we intend to head into Brum for a curry.

MCCC Family Christmas Party

Over the past weekend (6th, 7th) December we helped run the Family Christmas Party for the Midlands Centre of the Caravan Club. Overall it seems to be a successful weekend, most people commenting favourably.

However at the end of the weekend I did have very sore feet, having not sat down for most of the weekend. I would do it all again and probably will next year.

The theme for the Party was Disney and a good selection of people made the effort to dress up, I was Captain Jack Sparrow, my wife was Elizabeth Swan, and our two boys where characters from High School musical 2. Our friends were The Incredibles and characters from Toy Story.

If I can find some free time I will put pictures on my picasa account. I also manage to record a 15 video of the evening entertainment that I will upload to youtube at some stage.
